Reconnecting with Emotion: How Feeling Opens the Door to Spiritual Wholeness
Leona was brilliant, thoughtful, and endlessly composed — but she hadn’t cried in years. She often told herself emotions made her weak. Her friends admired her control, yet something inside felt frozen.
Excerpt from Beyond Perception: Walking With Grace ~~~
Because of past experiences, you relate certain situations and events to either a positive or negative emotion. Your beliefs and perceptions guide your emotions.
During a guided meditation, she was asked to place her hand over her heart. The facilitator said softly, “Feel what you’ve forgotten to feel.”
At first, nothing came. Then — a wave. Tears, laughter, warmth, grief, all rising together. It was overwhelming, yet cleansing. Leona realized her emotions were sacred messengers, not burdens. They had been waiting patiently to remind her she was alive.
Afterward, she didn’t see tears as weakness but as a form of release — a way for the soul to speak when words could not.
