Carving the Spirit of Love: A Sacred Vision by the River

A Sacred Vision by the River

Some visions linger like whispers from the soul, echoing across lifetimes. This one has stayed with me through the years, vivid and humbling — a glimpse of a love rooted in deep reverence and spiritual purpose. Though brief, the memory left an imprint of something ancient and sacred, and now, through Merlin’s insight and a suggested ritual, I can honor the beauty of what was and what still lives within me.

    The Vision

In meditation, I found myself on the soft riverbank of a time long ago. I was a Native American woman, seated with calm dignity as my husband — or perhaps beloved partner — knelt near the river, carefully carving a wooden comb for my hair. He was a strong, respected warrior in the tribe, his presence powerful and noble. And yet, here he was, devoting time and tenderness to shaping something personal for me with his own hands.

There was so much love in that moment — not dramatic or grand, but steady, intimate, and sacred. His attention to the craft, the reverence in his movements, and the unspoken bond between us felt as if they held the wisdom of generations. That simple act conveyed more love than words ever could. And I was humbled, deeply aware of how much we honored one another — not just as individuals, but as souls walking together in harmony.

This same couple has appeared again in visions of my sacred dreamland — sometimes I am her, sometimes I simply witness her. Always, the feeling is the same: that the love we shared was rooted in purpose, care, and something eternal.

    Merlin’s Insight

This vision is a soul remembrance — a gentle unveiling of love shaped not by possession or passion alone, but by deep respect and sacred intention. The carving of the comb symbolizes shaping your own spiritual identity with care, and allowing another to help tend the beauty of your inner world. It reflects a divine partnership — the sacred masculine and feminine in harmony — and offers a message for the now:
You are ready to call in (or deepen) partnerships that honor the spirit, not just the surface. This vision affirms that you’ve carried this frequency of love through time, and it lives within you still. Whether or not that soul walks with you now in human form, the memory is yours to activate and expand.

    Closing Ritual: Honoring Sacred Partnership

You may wish to perform this ritual outdoors, near water if possible:

    1. Create a simple altar with a wooden item (symbolizing the comb), a glass of water, and a small mirror. Add a candle if it feels right.
    2. Sit quietly, breathing into your heart space. Feel the presence of your sacred self, and if you wish, call in the spirit of the one who carved the comb.
    3. Speak aloud or in your mind:
“I honor the sacred love I have known. I invite this energy into my life once more — in remembrance, in gratitude, and in readiness to give and receive in equal beauty.”
    4. Touch the wooden item, then gaze briefly into the mirror. See yourself through the eyes of reverence. Know that you are already whole, and any love that finds you will mirror that truth.
    5. Close the ritual by pouring the water into the earth, offering your love back to the land and the ancestors.
