The Saddled One Waits
During meditation, I found myself standing on the bank of a river. The atmosphere was hushed and heavy with meaning. An alligator swam upstream, ancient and silent. I was fascinated rather than afraid. Then, across the river, I saw two wild white horses running—one large and free, the other smaller, wearing a saddle. I felt the thrill of seeing wild horses (a long-held dream of mine), and a deeper pull as I realized: the smaller one was meant for me to ride. Yet they remained on the other side of the river.
Merlin’s Interpretation
This vision speaks of readiness and invitation—of a sacred path calling, yet not quite within reach. The wildness of the horses represents freedom and power; the saddle suggests a role that awaits you, a destiny prepared. But between you and that calling is the river—a symbol of transition, of the emotional or spiritual distance still to be crossed.
The alligator, swimming upstream, may represent ancient wisdom, or a primal aspect of yourself or the world—resilient, undeterred, and moving with purpose even in a challenging flow. Perhaps it is a guardian of the threshold, or a companion on your evolutionary path. You were not afraid, and that’s important: your spirit recognizes these forces and knows how to coexist with them.
The Meaning for Others
Have you ever seen the thing that calls to you—and felt that, though it is yours, it’s not yet time to touch it?
This vision is a reminder that spiritual evolution does not happen all at once. Sometimes, the sacred waits across a river. Sometimes, our soul prepares quietly until we’re ready to cross. You do not need to chase what is meant for you. Watch for signs. Know that the saddled horse waits not for your effort, but your alignment.
🕯️ Ritual: The River Between
To call in readiness and spiritual integration
You will need:
- A bowl of water
- A white candle
- A small token or item that symbolizes your spiritual calling
Steps
- Light the candle and place it beside the bowl of water.
- Place the token on the far side of the bowl, across the “river.”
- Breathe deeply and say aloud:
“I see what is mine. I trust the timing. I honor the river that prepares me. When I am ready, I will cross, and the sacred will meet me.” - Sit in silence for a few minutes. Then move the token gently across the water’s edge to your side.
- Close the ritual with gratitude, knowing that you have signaled your readiness to the Universe.
