Have you ever had a random song pop into your head and it felt… significant? That happened to me recently with an old song by Three Dog Night—“The Road to Shambala.” I haven’t listened to it in years, but suddenly, there it was—dancing into my mind, nudging me to listen.
The song itself is playful, light-hearted, yet beneath the surface, it’s about something much deeper. Shambala is a legendary place, a mystical realm of peace and enlightenment, mentioned in Tibetan traditions. But Shambala isn’t really “out there” somewhere. It’s a state of being, a frequency we align with through joy, presence, and connection.
That synchronicity made sense that day as earlier I spent time doing ordinary things: cleaning house, doing laundry, cooking dinner. But here’s the thing—it didn’t feel ordinary. It felt wonderful. Like I was a kid again, “playing house,” grateful for the simple tasks, grateful for this moment. I even found myself thinking, “I won’t be cleaning this house for much longer.” There was a quiet, joyful knowing that change is coming. But for now, I wanted to savor the feeling of this day.
Sometimes the most sacred moments are hidden in the everyday.
The song reminded me that the “road to Shambala” isn’t a destination. It’s a choice to be present, to find joy even in sweeping the floor or folding clothes. The journey is sacred because we are present within it.
Merlin’s Note:
“The path you walk is paved with the light you carry within. Each simple act, when done with presence and joy, becomes a sacred offering. Shambala is not a place you find—it’s a state you embody, one breath at a time.”
